The position requires Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Illustration, Animation, Entertainment Design, Design or related degree.

Duties
Reporting to the Director, Product Design and working closely with senior management, the Product Designer will impact bottom-line results by brainstorming innovative ideas, designing new toys and packaging - taking their ideas from preliminary design concepts and presentation materials through final manufactured/printed product and collateral.

Creates aspects of form aesthetics, size, and ergonomics to include human factors expertise to evaluate ease of use and appropriateness of how children handle and play with toys.

Participates in the concept review and editing meeting to determine which concepts are viable candidates to move forward in the development process.

Generates Preliminary Specifications to include material selection, texture, color, and mechanical solutions for design evaluation and product pricing.

Creates 3D files using Keyshot, Zbrush or SolidWorks or manages outside freelancers.

Creates color specifications and reviews the number of paint ops with Engineering, Creative, and HK. Participates in a concept reconciliation meeting prior to presentation to ensure creative design intent is achieved. Provides HK with 3D files, 3-view files, turn-a-rounds and models for reference and direction.

Ensures that all models are provided either internally or coordinated to be built in HK with outside service providers so that needed prototypes, mockups and samples for review with licensors and clients are accurate to given designs.

Prints 3D images using the 3D printer Uses the Laser Cutter for product and packaging concepts

Participates in brainstorms for new toy concepts

Develops packaging die-lines and box whites for premium products for presentation and production, as required.

Communicates on a daily basis with Project Management, Account, Creative, and HK to ensure vital development milestones remain on schedule for both product and packaging deliveries.

Assists in the development, preparation, design, and execution of the art elements of any assigned project as pertained to the engraving, deco, or information needed for details of each program.

Delivers assigned projects to required quality levels on schedule and to required budget.

Performs related services as required.
